New Opportunities Ahead!
Who knew that I would be stepping out of the Navy completely after 6 years? I certainly didn’t. Over these last 6 years, God has been working in and through me to positively impact the lives of both believers and non-believers as I’ve gone where He sent me, and bloomed where I was planted. Something that I’ve learned over the years is that God strategically places His people all around the world, and I have experienced this while in the Navy.
“The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps” (Proverbs 16:9, ESV).

As I step out of the Navy, I am taking on a new role in building up the Kingdom of God. I will be working full time as a Pastoral Resident at Bay Area Community Church starting in September! Here are some of the things I’ll be doing:
- Studying a set curriculum to prepare me for ordination in two years.
- Gaining pastoral experience through preaching on Sundays, leading Bible studies, leading small groups, counseling, learning to officiate weddings and funerals, and more.
- Engaging in outreach and ministry events in the local community.
- Leading/Co-Leading a short-term mission trip.
I’ll also be studying at an extension campus of Dallas Theological Seminary in Burke, VA as a hybrid student! The degree I’m pursuing is a Master of Arts in Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care, which is perfectly suited for my calling as a Navy Chaplain. To become a Chaplain, it is required that I obtain at least two years of full-time ministry experience, and that I maintain a full-time course schedule at an accredited Seminary. With both of these opportunities combined, in about three years, I will be an exceptional candidate for Naval Chaplaincy.
