NAS Pensacola

When I joined the Navy in 2017, I actually wanted to serve as a Master at Arms, in Law Enforcement. Well, after talking with the Navy recruiter at the MEPS station in Indiana, that rate (job) was not available. They gave me three options:

  • Culinary Specialist (Chef) on a Submarine
  • Aviation Boatswains Mate Fueling (ABF-Fueling Aircraft)
  • Undesignated Airman (No Specific Job in Aviation)

Given these options, I chose to become an Undesignated Airman, which is why I was sent to NAS Pensacola, where I learned how to be an Airman in the Navy. Even though this was not the path that I really wanted to pursue, becoming an Undesignated Airman offered me the chance to explore what the Navy had to offer as far as jobs and having purpose.

After my A-School technical training for two months, I was then sent to a ship in San Diego, California called the USS Makin Island, LHD8.

  1. Wayde, I will commit to pray for you faithfully. At ninety-six I have no idea if I can fulfull the 2 1/2 years, lol, but I do remember and honor my commitments! May God bless you as you push forward to your goal of being a Chaplain, I have known five or six of them over the years, all wonderful Godly men. God wants men like you!
